Important Updates on Companies House Changes
- 27th March 2025
Significant changes are coming into force at Companies House under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act, representing the most substantial reforms since corporate registrations were first introduced in 1844.
This new legislation is designed to enhance transparency, ensure the accuracy and reliability of the register, and help prevent unlawful activities such as fraud and money laundering. As a result, there will be new responsibilities for:
- All new and existing company directors
- People with significant control (PSCs)
- Anyone filing information on behalf of a company
As part of these changes, Forrester Boyd is becoming an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP). This will enable us to conduct verification services for our clients and submit the necessary details directly to Companies House.
What This Means for Businesses
These new regulations will affect all UK businesses, whether you are an existing company or setting up a new one. If you are a company director, a person with significant control, or responsible for filing information, you will be required to verify your identity.
At Forrester Boyd, we are implementing SmartSearch, a leading facial recognition and identity verification software, to streamline the process. This technology allows for secure and efficient identity checks, making compliance straightforward for businesses.
If you are uncertain about how these changes will affect your business or need assistance with compliance, our expert team is here to help. Get in touch to find out more about your obligations and how we can support you through this transition.
