£1bn fund for businesses

Chancellor Rishi Sunak announced a £1bn fund to help businesses that have been hit by the rise in Covid cases.
Hospitality businesses can apply for cash grants of up to £6,000 per premises. An additional £30m has been earmarked to help theatres and museums. With the spread of the Omicron variant, many leisure and hospitality businesses have experienced a rapid decline in footfall and bookings.
These grants will be provided by local authorities under the existing scheme’s being run.
Other businesses outside leisure and hospitality can apply to local councils for a grant under the Additional Restrictions Grants which has seen a £102m top up.
Government also announced its intention to reintroduce the Statutory Sick Pay Rebate Scheme for businesses with fewer than 250 employees.
£30m is also available through the existing Culture Recovery Fund.
